The Pentatonic Highway

Learn how to connect pentatonic scale positions on guitar using a simple fretboard navigation concept called The Pentatonic Highway. In this lesson you'll learn how to move between Box 5, Box 1 and Box 2 of the A Minor Pentatonic Scale so you can improvise across the neck with more confidence and stop getting stuck in a single pentatonic box.

Looking for a more structure?

If you're looking to add a little more structure to your guitar playing and improvisation, why not take a look at our Blues & Rock Improvisation Course?

Designed specifically for beginner and intermediate guitarists, the course provides a clear, step-by-step roadmap to help you move beyond simply memorising scales and start creating solos that sound musical and expressive.

Starting with the fundamentals of the minor pentatonic scale, you'll gradually learn how to connect positions, use major and minor pentatonics, incorporate blues scales, develop phrasing, apply techniques such as bends and vibrato, and build confidence improvising over real backing tracks.

Whether you're completely new to improvisation or feel stuck playing the same ideas over and over again, this course will give you a structured path to becoming a more confident and creative lead guitarist.
