Workshop Overview:

Start the day with a blank page and finish it with an original song that you’ve helped write, arrange, perform and record. Led by Andrew Beale from Kirklees Guitar School, this six-hour workshop runs from 10am–4pm at our studio in Denby Dale and is aimed at musicians who want to learn more about the songwriting process and explore the more creative side of playing their instrument. Working together in a small group, you’ll develop an original song from the ground up, exploring ideas, lyrics, chords and structure before taking it into the band room to arrange and rehearse it as a complete piece. The final stage of the day is recording the finished song using our studio facilities, so you’ll leave having experienced the whole journey from first idea to finished track. The workshop is suitable for guitarists, bassists, singers, drummers and keyboard players, and groups are limited. Keeping the numbers small means everyone can contribute properly to the writing and arranging process, with more time for individual ideas and collaboration. Your place includes six hours of tuition, use of the band room and recording facilities, and a digital copy of the finished recording after the workshop. All you need to bring is your instrument, your lunch, and perhaps a notebook full of ideas. Tea and coffee-making facilities will be available. The workshop takes place at Kirklees Guitar School in Denby Dale, with full arrival and access instructions sent out nearer the date.
