Major pentatonic scale improvisation
Following another excellent day out in Denby Dale for the level 2 improvisation course I thought I would get a video posted so I can hopefully measure some progress!

I’ve recently started creating some additional members-only videos over on YouTube, and of course, as an Academy member, you’ll get access to all of these at no additional cost.
I’ve got four videos ready to go, which I’ll be drip-feeding into the Academy over the next few days. Some are behind-the-scenes, some are gear-related, and I’ll add each one to the most relevant section of the Academy so they’re easy to find.
First up, we’re talking overdrive pedals!
In this video, I show you my small “baby board” and explain how I stack overdrive pedals together.
With just three overdrives, I can actually create five different usable drive sounds without needing a huge pedalboard.
It’s essentially my “desert island” approach to pedals, if I need to travel light but still want plenty of tonal options, this is how I do it.
Here is a picture of my starter Pedal board and pedals, but don't get carried away and think I know what to do with it all 🤪. Then because I had a massive Fender Mustang III V2 amp, I got rid of it and got something more house friendly and bought a Lava Studio Amp. This thing has 40 Amps and 50 Pedals plus much more functionality.
If I'm not careful I'll spend all my time learning to use 'Technology' and not be able to play a guitar. 😂

My academy is now fully working, thank to James for reconnecting the links that were astray all perfect now.
It took a fair bit of effort on his part so as always respect to the man. Im sure all members know but Ill say it anyway, he not only teaches brilliantly but he actually cares that we are benefiting from his lessons. One in a million
Great news Russ, now you’re up and running 🏃🏻♂️ we’ll be hearing great videos from you. 🎸😉👍
Hi all,
It has come to my attention that the website has a few bugs that I am unaware of and some members have been suffering in silence!
If you have a bug you would like to report please contact me via email directly and ill do my best to resolve any outstanding issues.
My email address is:

I can't do anything about them if I don't know about them. Please report any bug no matter how big or small that will imporve your experience using the site.
Great idea to baseline your progress Che I must remember to do the same. I think 🤔 maybe two themes, Major and minor, just saying. So no pressure. 🎸😉👍
