Day 1

June Challenge – Day 1, Practice Session 1 ✅

Practice Time: 30 Minutes

Today was all about getting back into the routine after a few days away from the guitar. With it being the first day back after half-term, time was limited, so I focused purely on technical alternate picking exercises.

Today's practice looked like this:

• 10 minutes working on positions 2, 3 and 4 of the minor pentatonic scale using sequencing exercises.

• 5 minutes working through all five positions, travelling in one direction only.

• 5 minutes travelling through all five positions in both directions.

• 10 minutes working through all five positions with a metronome gradually increasing from 65 BPM up to 85 BPM.

Nothing glamorous today just getting the reps in, rebuilding momentum, and cleaning up the areas that currently start to come undone around the 70–80 BPM mark.

Tomorrow I'd like to start bringing Cliffs of Dover back into the practice routine, working between 75–85 BPM.

At the moment, 85 BPM is definitely the benchmark that needs improving, so it'll be interesting to see where things are by the end of the month.
